Reasons behind the decrease and increase of Blood cells

Reasons for higher than normal RBC:

  • If you have a habit of smoking
  • If you take steroids
  • Dehydration
  • If you have heart or lung disease

Reasons why the number of red blood cells decreases:

  • Vitamin Deficiency (B9, B12)
  • Iron deficiency
  • Malnutrition
  • Chemotherapy

Foods that increase the number of red blood cells:

Foods rich in vitamins B9 and B12 and foods rich in iron such as:

  • Beef
  • Heart
  • Vegetables such as grafted vegetables
  • Lentils

Causes of WBC decreasing:

  • Aplastic anemia
  • Leukemia
